The session on book charcha by Sathya, Saran on Guru Dutt was informative and interesting with some good and rare songs medley thrown in between. Although two of his most ambitious films didn't fare well at the box office, nobody can deny the greatness of his work. Small nuggets of info about the peculiar nature of Dada Burman were hilarious. Guru Dutt's keenness to spend time with nature and farming must be news to many. The mischievous and adventurous side of his persona was also good to know. R 4 team again deserves a big thank you.
|
Satya Saran was highly articulate and anecdotal, and the songs were outstanding 👍👍we would like to buy the book 📕
Anil Gangakhedkar
Expected elaborate details on personality traits of Guru Dutt on his creativity both as a director and choreographer. We read the book, but certain things coming from the author verbally makes lot of difference.

Excellent presentation by Sathya Saranji and delighted to hear the unknown melodies of Guru Dutt’s films
Shubhra Krishan

It was a wonderful session. I was initially on the fence about purchasing the book but now I cant wait to dive deep into its pages. The songs also were nicely curated and ended up discovering a few new ones. Book charcha is so good and if possible, it could be organised slightly more frequently and if authors arent available per se a few who are interested can volunteer to discuss the book with others who will also enjoy the content

It was an excellent programme. The selection of songs were very good. Satyaji' s comments were very appropriate.
Anjali Karode
As usual the program was very enjoyable. Your team’s organized work to take her life journey and her in-depth information was very informative and interesting. Thanks. Looking forward to next weekend program.

Outstanding session 👌👌 Don’t have words to describe. One of the best sessions I have attended so far.
Jayant Kulkarni
It was a well structured show overall. Only I feel that Johnny Walker songs medley could have been shorter and that much time could have been given to Satya madam!
|
Excellent show - all aspects of Guru Dutt's life and death brilliantly covered by Balaji n Sathya Saran ji.. the iconic songs, the ladies in his life, Johnny Walker , OPN nexus - song selection also brilliant - well done, as always - Kudos
Sindhubala Choudhury
Sathya Saran was so good. All information at her fingertips. And I am a Guru Dutt Fan too.

Best part of R4 shows is, it gives a unique perspective to the songs that are already part of our memory and being. And next time when I hear the same song, I feel little closer to that. Plus, though the song trivias are lot more associations also happen. For example, with the technicians behind, with the time and culture back then, with the process of song making. And, knowing each part makes me feel more and more close, sort of insider. It is a nice feeling and treasurable memory. Pancham - Ek Khoj was that kind of a show for me. I usually take note of all the songs that you play and re-listen it again, to notice all the minute details you meticulously point out. Simply loved it and waiting for its next episode already. Keeping these songs alive is an immense noble work the R4 team is doing. Kudos to that. And thanks a lot.
|
It was a nice program and difficult at the same time since the songs were heard for the first time. Having said that, the efforts taken by the team Nostalgianna was great. Anand was too good as always with minimum words to give maximum knowledge.
Yogesh Ved
I did enjoy a lot. Both Anand-ji & Shashi Rao explained / analysed the smallest of intricacies of Music of RD-THEBOSS. If possible, you can add 1 or 2 more persons like them who have work under Dada and still alive would make show SONE PE SHUHAGA.

It was a memorable evening for all music lovers present as audience to be made aware of the uniqueness of the songs which made them special. . Every aspect of the chosen ones was taken up one by one and we were left speechless with the phenomenal research having been made by all the eminent experts behind the camera. No words can fully describe the monumental effort being made by them all. The expert commentators did full justice to their job n enlightened us with their vision about the preparation behind the song n their special characteristics. We cannot thank enough the core R4 team for their painstaking and laborious research and asking the right questions from the specialists present for a threadbare examination of such melodious beauties.
Cine & Sangeet Charcha Show on Kaifi Azmi on 29th May 2022

Wish R4 will have a ready repository of lyrics....especially of esteemed Lyricists/poets like Kaifi Azmi/Sahir/Majrooh Sultanpuri & many more.. keep adding others to it.... along with memorable trivia revealed during such programs. Post such shows would always like to reminiscence.

The session was excellent. It's always enriching to listen to / read Mr. Yasir Abbasi. The curated songs were also enjoyable. Overall, it was time well spent.

Ajay Purohit
The medley of songs, stacked choosing the versatility of the शायर was just awesome. Yasir Abbasi brightened the show with his charismatic presentation. The Audio & Video clips were superb! Kudos!

Leena Gindi
Actually you are doing more than we expect... 😄I particularly like the informal handling of your show.... People आरामसे गप्पे मार सकते है on chat, not disturbing or wasting time of the show.... Your selection of melodies is brilliant, questions and queries are studiously planted, and the most commendable thing being..... You never display your knowledge of the subject... though you are aware of many things.... lot to learn from you both.... 😄😄😄

Ram Iyer
The show was fantastic. The guest speaker was excellent and his command of Urdu, Hindi and English was commendable. Thank you for organizing the program

Programme covered many hidden aspects of Kaifi saab's personality & explored many unheard songs.
|
Smriti Nevatia
Loved the audio clips of Kaifi saab speaking and the ease of the conversation with the very well-versed and absorbing speaker Yasir Abbasi. The story of how in another place around the same time the young (future) Majrooh was also getting in trouble in school was delightful! So many facets of Kaifi Azmi's work were explored. The mix of talk and music was also just right. The rare or less heard songs were a treat, along with the more familiar and celebrated songs.
If I have a quibble, it's with the antara that was picked from सिमटी सी शर्माई सी. If we're going to listen to an example of a progressive and feminist poet (the same man who could write उठ मेरी जान) slipping up so badly, that unfortunate slip should have first of all been recognised, and then discussed. I'd have really liked to know Yasir's take on those particular lines. Otherwise a show like this risks becoming a paean of praise, or a hagiography. When you folks did a show on Sahir, we saw the man with his faults — his ego, his quarrels with contemporaries. It did not make us love or respect Sahir less, it just made him human. This was a chance to add some texture to the Kaifi special as well. But what bothered me more is that the antara appeared selected without recognition of how incorrect it is by progressive standards. In the chat people were enjoying it, because when we present something problematic in an uncritical way, we end up validating and normalising it.

The show was superb. A lot of painstaking research n hard work had gone into the making of this show.
The guest speaker dwelt upon the various facets of the persona of the protagonist, right from his being child prodigy to early signs of rebelliousness in his fitrat leading to his expulsion from an educational institute to his first public recitation program when he in his early teens to the adulation received by his progressive and forward looking poetry from the bigwigs of the literary world, while still in his youth. His sense of humour was also brought home.
We were lucky enough to get this nazm being recited by Ms Shoukat who herself fell madly in love with him after knowing n listening to his path breaking poetry in general n his views on not only equality in society but equality of sexes in particular. She of course went on to achieve great heights in theatre and off beat films. Many less heard gens written by him were played. I wish his excellent dialogues n fabulous qawalli written for Garm Hawa were also played. They are a milestone in his career. Truly a commendable life worth following.

Absolutely nostalgic. Mrudula ji was so intense & involved in the show and shared some out of the box insights of musical interpretation & presentation of lyrics by Ravi ji. Look forward to more such programs
|
Just loved the show is to say the least. The way Mridula ji was explaining each song was like opening up a wrapper and showing me the chocolate.
|
I would give it 10 stars if I could. Excellent program. Learnt so much about this prolific composer.🙏🏽 Didn’t want it to end! Goes to show how good the presentation was! We are the beneficiaries of your passion and hard work.🙏🏽. Nostalgiaana is such a perfect name for this group. 😍

Dr. Joshi’s powers of expression are eloquent. She was able to lift mediocrity to a higher level of acceptance among her listeners. Ravi Sahab never really belonged on the first tier of our composers but he does take credit for a number of immortal compositions. Dr. Joshi’s interpretation of his work placed that composer a notch higher in our minds. They were, however, few and far between. The early 60s definitely saw a surge in his creativity. I do wish though Dr. Joshi had touched upon Nazrana from that time and the definitely great compositions Ravi-ji created for Mehndi, in the first previous decade.

I would appreciate at least 10 to 15 secs of time to see per photo. Sometimes there are 10 people in one snap and you feel like seeing all and identify them. Photos are rare and valuable and it would be nice if some extra light is shed on them by the host
|
Mira Desai
Anecdotes were terrific...the most loved songs began their life written on a bus ticket. very generous to share family memories and some great music...forces one to think
|
Girija Vijay
It was one of the most enjoyable and informative program. Just one song “देखो ये चाँद छुपकर करता है क्या इशारे” made my morning and entire day.
|
Shilpi Singh
It was a wonderful evening, spent well celebrating the legendary but lesser-known lyricist SH Bihari Sahab. Who better than this daughter Shahida Sahiba to take us on this nostalgic trip. Whatta ride it was! I would have loved a little more focus on the loris that he wrote. That bit was brief. It was a truly memorable and thoroughly enjoyable event. Thank you for this soulful evening.

Shubhada Chiplunkar
Music is more enjoyable when the nuances get explained. Getting to know Khayyam through Dr. Mrudula Joshi was a great experience. We welcome more such discussions. Thanks to your consistent efforts in unravelling the beauty of Indian music and enlightening us.
|
Nandu Kulkarni
Dr. Mridula Dadhe-Joshi, was excellent. She has a beautiful surila voice, and she explained some of the nuances of songs extremely well. My feedback is that the compere should have given her more time to talk. I think she must have spoken/demonstrated for less than 30-40% of the show’s total duration.
